Under the leadership of District Police Officer Bannu, Yasser Afridi, Bannu Police have released their performance report covering the first 120 days of the year 2026, detailing significant achievements in counterterrorism operations, crime control, and overall law and order management in the district.
According to the report, Bannu Police carried out sustained and intelligence-driven operations against terrorists, criminal networks, narcotics traffickers, and illegal arms holders, resulting in substantial operational successes across multiple categories.
During this period, a total of 73 intelligence-based operations were conducted. These operations led to the elimination of 16 terrorists, the arrest of 18 others, and the disruption of 27 planned terrorist attacks through timely and effective preventive action. Additionally, 37 suspicious individuals were taken into custody for further investigation.
The report further states that 367 proclaimed offenders were arrested, while 203 individuals involved in drug trafficking were apprehended and brought before the law. Law enforcement also initiated preventive actions against 2,753 individuals involved in various unlawful activities, while 566 persons were arrested for involvement in aerial firing incidents.
In terms of operational enforcement, 131 search and strike operations were successfully conducted across the district. These actions resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of illegal weapons, including 264 Kalashnikov rifles, 57 Kalakov rifles, 88 shotguns, 138 repeaters, 1,665 pistols, and 22,261 rounds of assorted ammunition.
Bannu Police also reported notable achievements in the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign. Recoveries included 60.760 kilograms of hashish, 36.780 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), 1.079 kilograms of heroin, and 94 liters of liquor, underscoring sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
District Police Officer Yasser Afridi reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining law and order, stating that operations against criminal and terrorist elements will continue without discrimination and with full force. He emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to transform Bannu into a peaceful, secure, and model district.
He further stated that no negligence or compromise will be tolerated in the execution of this national duty, and that police operations will continue in a sustained and results-oriented manner to ensure lasting peace in the region.
