Pakistan Intensifies Diplomatic Engagements to Promote Regional Peace and Stability, Foreign Office Says

Pakistan is actively pursuing comprehensive diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaging in extensive outreach with key international partners, the Foreign Office stated during a weekly press briefing.

Speaking to the media, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi highlighted that the Prime Minister has been in contact with the leadership of several countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, as part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiative aimed at reducing regional tensions. He noted that these engagements reflect Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue-based solutions and constructive international cooperation.

The spokesperson stated that the President of Turkey appreciated Pakistan’s peace efforts and reaffirmed Ankara’s continued support for Islamabad’s diplomatic initiatives. He further added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Iran’s decision to send a delegation to Islamabad, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening dialogue and mutual understanding.

According to the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister also held discussions with the leadership of Saudi Arabia, during which he expressed gratitude to the Saudi Crown Prince for his continued support for Pakistan. The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share strong, brotherly relations and maintain a strategic defence partnership rooted in mutual trust and cooperation.

In addition, the Prime Minister met with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where the Qatari leadership acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in easing regional tensions. The spokesperson further revealed that the Prime Minister also held a conversation with the President of the European Council, with both sides underscoring the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving complex global and regional challenges.

Tahir Hussain Andrabi reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan remains fully engaged with all relevant stakeholders, maintaining continuous diplomatic contact with countries including the United States and Iran. He stressed that Pakistan firmly believes in negotiation-based diplomacy as the most effective means to address complex issues and ensure long-term peace.

On regional matters, the spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled position on Somalia, stating that Pakistan recognizes Somaliland as part of Somalia and supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Somali state.

Addressing security concerns, the Foreign Office strongly condemned incidents of cross-border firing and shelling from Afghanistan, noting that such actions have previously resulted in civilian casualties. The spokesperson expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the affected families and confirmed that all possible measures are being taken to assist those impacted.

Pakistan, the Foreign Office emphasized, will continue to play a proactive and responsible role in fostering peace, stability, and cooperation at both regional and international levels through sustained diplomatic engagement.
