The process of repatriation of illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, is continuing across the province of Punjab as part of an ongoing enforcement drive, according to the Punjab Police.
A spokesperson for Punjab Police confirmed that 34,545 Afghan nationals and other foreign residents have been deported from various districts across the province, including Lahore. Authorities further stated that 203 individuals remain at designated holding points awaiting further processing and verification.
According to official data, the deported individuals include 13,389 men, 6,963 women, and 14,224 children. The police also clarified that those repatriated fall under different categories, including individuals holding residency documentation, Afghan Citizen Cards, and those identified as illegally residing without valid legal status.
Inspector General of Punjab Police Abdul Karim stated that security across the province has been placed on high alert to ensure the smooth continuation of the ongoing repatriation process. He emphasized that the removal of all illegally residing individuals will be completed in accordance with national policy and applicable international legal frameworks.
Officials reiterated that the operation is part of a broader government strategy aimed at regulating illegal residency, strengthening internal security, and ensuring proper documentation of foreign nationals residing within the province.
Punjab Police further noted that the enforcement drive is being carried out in a structured, coordinated, and regulated manner across multiple districts to ensure transparency, legal compliance, and administrative order throughout the process.
Authorities added that all actions are being implemented with due regard to legal procedures and humanitarian considerations, while maintaining strict adherence to the established policy framework.
