Pakistan strongly rejected recent statements and allegations made by India, terming them “deplorable” and “unfortunate,” and accused New Delhi of attempting to “weaponise” a false narrative against Pakistan for narrow domestic political objectives.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan said that at a time when the country, along with its international partners, is actively engaged in coordinated diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional and international peace and stability, India has once again resorted to what it described as a “campaign of baseless allegations and propaganda.”
The response comes as India marked the one-year anniversary of the 2025 Pahalgam incident, in which 26 people were killed. India used the occasion to reiterate allegations of cross-border involvement, claims which Pakistan has categorically rejected.
Pakistan maintained that India’s continued assertions linking it to the incident are part of a broader pattern of misinformation and political messaging. The Foreign Office stated that such narratives are intended to divert attention from India’s internal and external policy challenges.
Referring to previous developments, Pakistan stated that it had already responded to what it called India’s “misplaced adventurism” through Operation Bunyanum-Marsoos last year, adding that renewed allegations represent another instance of what it termed India’s attempt to create a “smokescreen” for its alleged involvement in destabilizing activities across the region.
The statement further urged the international community to take note of what Pakistan described as India’s conduct and to encourage restraint and responsibility in its public statements and actions. Pakistan emphasized that inflammatory rhetoric risks undermining ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security in South Asia.
Pakistan also reiterated that such propaganda campaigns cannot distract from what it described as India’s continued occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It reaffirmed that the Kashmiri people continue to be denied their right to self-determination, as recognized in relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Furthermore, the Foreign Office stated that such “political narratives” cannot obscure concerns regarding regional stability, including allegations of aggressive posturing and unilateral measures, such as India’s decision to place the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, which Pakistan described as inconsistent with international obligations.
Pakistan concluded by reiterating its commitment to peace, regional stability, and constructive engagement, while cautioning against actions and rhetoric that could further escalate tensions in an already sensitive regional environment.
