Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) in coordination with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police conducted a joint operation in Karachi’s Site Area on the basis of actionable intelligence, resulting in the arrest of a highly wanted terrorist identified as Noor Alam, alias Wafadar, son of Maroot Khan, affiliated with the extremist group Fitnah al-Khawarij. Authorities also recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosive materials from his possession.
According to official sources, Noor Alam joined the group led by Mufti Noor Wali in 2014. Following training, he was involved in multiple attacks on security forces’ check posts in South Waziristan. During interrogation, Noor Alam revealed that in 2021, he and his associates attacked the Levies check post in Makin. The assault resulted in the deaths of two of his accomplices, while six Levies personnel were kidnapped by Noor Alam and his group.
Noor Alam, along with his associates Khan Muhammad, alias Khurai, and Naqeebullah, alias Muawiya, was also involved in planting and detonating improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along security force routes in South Waziristan. Following operations in South Waziristan, Noor Alam and other members fled to Afghanistan and, under instructions from Fitnah al-Khawarij commander Bilal, alias Toofan, organized operations targeting South Waziristan from across the border.
A resident of South Waziristan, Noor Alam had been in hiding in Karachi in recent months. Authorities confirmed that he was actively organizing terror activities in Karachi under guidance from his network in Afghanistan.
According to Pakistan Rangers, ongoing search operations are underway to apprehend Noor Alam’s remaining accomplices. The arrested operative has been handed over to CTD police along with recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosive material for further legal proceedings.
This operation underscores the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to dismantle extremist networks and prevent terrorist attacks in urban centers, ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
