Soldier Killed in Bannu Blast as Security Forces Kill Two Khawarij in Follow-Up Operation

A roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Bannu district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of one soldier and injuries to four others, including two military personnel, security officials confirmed.

According to initial reports, the explosion occurred near a degree college in the Mamskhel area, where security forces were deployed as part of routine operational positioning. Emergency response teams immediately reached the site following the blast, and the injured personnel were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Officials have not yet released details regarding the condition of the injured.

Security forces cordoned off the area shortly after the incident and launched a search operation to identify and apprehend those responsible. Authorities described the attack as a targeted act aimed at security personnel deployed in the region.

Later in the evening, a separate intelligence-based operation in the Shahbazkhel area of Lakki Marwat district resulted in the killing of at least two individuals identified as Khawarij, according to police officials.

Officials stated that the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence and involved a precision strike against suspected hideouts linked to militant networks operating in the southern belt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The individuals killed were reportedly involved in activities associated with Khawarij elements active in the region.

Security sources confirmed that follow-up clearance and search operations are ongoing in both districts to eliminate remaining threats and dismantle networks responsible for recent attacks.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that those involved in violence against security forces and civilians are brought to justice.
