Lebanon Seeks Pakistan’s Support to Halt Israeli Strikes as Islamabad Pushes Peace Diplomacy

Pakistan's Support, Lebanon eeks Pakistan’s Help, Israel Attacks Lebanon

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has sought Pakistan’s support to help bring an immediate end to ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its people, highlighting Islamabad’s growing diplomatic relevance in regional peace efforts.

According to an official statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, during which the situation in Lebanon and broader regional tensions were discussed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned Israel’s continued aggression against Lebanon and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of thousands of lives. He reiterated that Pakistan remains actively engaged in sincere efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

He noted that, in the same spirit, Pakistan is facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran, underscoring Islamabad’s commitment to reducing tensions through diplomacy.

During the conversation, Nawaf Salam appreciated Pakistan’s peace initiatives and formally requested Islamabad’s cooperation in efforts to immediately halt the attacks on Lebanon. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact as the situation evolves.

In a separate statement, the Lebanese Prime Minister’s office acknowledged Pakistan’s role in advocating for a ceasefire and stressed the need to ensure that Lebanon is explicitly included in any such arrangement to prevent further attacks.

The development comes amid a sharp escalation, with more than 200 people reported dead in recent Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory. While the United States and Israel have indicated that Lebanon is not currently part of any ceasefire framework, Israel has stated it will continue operations against Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, Iran’s parliamentary leadership has warned that Tehran considers Lebanon an essential component of any ceasefire arrangement, signaling the potential for further regional complications.

The outreach to Pakistan reflects increasing recognition of Islamabad’s role as a diplomatic stabilizer, even as the region faces mounting security and humanitarian challenges.
