Security forces eliminated four militants in a targeted operation in Bajaur, officials confirmed, with an Afghan national identified among those involved, reinforcing concerns over cross-border militant networks.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out on actionable intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area. During the exchange of fire, four terrorists were taken out. One of them has been identified as Izzatullah alias Qari, an Afghan national allegedly linked to cross-border terrorist facilitation and planning.
Officials said the identification of Izzatullah points to yet another Afghan link in militant activities inside Pakistan, as security forces continue operations against networks attempting to exploit the porous border.
In closely related developments over the past couple of days, security forces also foiled an infiltration attempt along the North Waziristan border. A group of militants attempting to enter Pakistan from across Afghanistan was intercepted, triggering an intense gun battle.
At least two militants were taken out in the initial clash, while the remaining were engaged in follow-up actions, taking the total number of militants involved in the infiltration attempt to eight.
Meanwhile, in Balochistan, law enforcement agencies recently arrested an Afghan national suspected of facilitating terrorist activities.
Initial investigations suggest the individual had links with cross-border militant networks and may have been providing logistical support for infiltration attempts.
Security officials emphasized that these back-to-back developments highlight sustained pressure on militant networks and continued vigilance by Pakistani forces. They reiterated that any attempt to infiltrate or destabilize the country will be met with a swift and effective response.
