Cross-border firing continued for the third consecutive day along the Pakistan Afghanistan frontier, reflecting sustained security tension in the border belt, security sources said.
The latest exchange of fire was reported in the Maro Sar and Shah Kot Sar heights of the Bazaar Zakha Khel area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday evening.
Security officials said Pakistani forces and positions across the border were involved in the engagement, with heavy weapons reportedly used during the incident. The firing began at approximately 5:15 pm and continued intermittently.
No casualties were immediately confirmed from either side.
The development follows two earlier days of cross-border firing reported in frontier sectors of Khyber and nearby areas, where security forces had responded to suspected militant movement and provocations along the Durand Line.
Authorities said the situation remains under close surveillance as security forces maintain defensive positions in the sensitive border belt. No further operational details were released.
