In a shocking development in Bannu’s Mandan jurisdiction, the father of the banned TTP commander Shaukat alias Adil, Gul Riaz, was fatally shot by unidentified armed assailants. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the attack.
According to local sources, Shaukat has long been involved in targeted killings of police personnel and other terrorist activities in the region. Gul Riaz, in addition to supporting his son, reportedly facilitated TTP operations by providing logistical and financial assistance, playing a significant role in spreading unrest across the area.
When contacted, the SHO of Mandan Police Station confirmed that Gul Riaz was killed last night by unidentified gunmen. “Shaukat, one of the most wanted terrorists, has been active in several violent and destabilizing operations. His father was assisting him as a facilitator,” the officer stated.
This incident highlights the continued volatility in the region and the challenges posed by networks of militants and their local support systems. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the attack and have vowed to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist facilitation networks operating in the area.
