Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has raised serious concerns over the worsening security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), emphasizing that both civilians and security personnel are increasingly being targeted by terrorists. He stressed that peace and security are prerequisites for the province’s development and public welfare.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Governor Kundi highlighted the need for all stakeholders to work together to maintain law and order. He noted that measures are being taken to address the issues of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and reaffirmed that law enforcement agencies are fully committed to ensuring public safety.
Addressing cross-border security concerns, the Governor stated that recent terrorist attacks have involved the use of Afghan territory, with some perpetrators linked to Afghan nationals. Pakistan has provided the Afghan government with clear evidence of these incidents, he added. However, he described calls for the KP Chief Minister to seek evidence in Afghanistan as illogical and impractical.
Governor Kundi also criticized political tactics that undermine stability, noting that certain parties, including PTI leadership, have historically pursued negative narratives and disruption, creating unnecessary challenges during political events in Sindh.
Highlighting the deteriorating security environment, he stated: “Terrorist attacks continue to threaten law enforcement personnel and ordinary citizens alike. Ensuring security is critical not only for safety but also to create an environment where development and public welfare can flourish.”
He praised the efforts of the Pakistan Army and security agencies, emphasizing that their commitment to maintaining law and order in KP is commendable and essential. The Governor stressed that peace is the foundation of development, and once it is restored, the province will be able to fully leverage its resources for the benefit of its citizens.
Concluding his remarks, Governor Kundi affirmed that the government remains steadfast in its efforts to eliminate terrorism and uphold constitutional principles, underlining that security, rule of law, and development are inseparable goals.
