Terrorists from the banned militant organization blew up a key link bridge, the Khaisur Bridge, in the Baka Khel area of Bannu, local sources confirmed. Authorities said the attack, carried out yesterday, was aimed at disrupting the movement of security forces. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but traffic was indeed halted, causing major inconvenience for local residents. Police also confirmed that just a day earlier, a mobile tower in the same area had been destroyed using explosives.
This attack follows a series of deliberate strikes on critical infrastructure in Bannu over the past year. In December 2025, terrorists targeted another key bridge in the Ghora Baka Khel area by detonating explosives, causing significant structural damage. The blast disrupted traffic and posed serious risks to public safety, though thankfully no casualties were reported. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched investigations, highlighting the persistent threat posed by militants to public infrastructure.
Earlier in November 2025, militants attempted to sabotage the Dwa Ghwara Bridge, resulting in the death of one terrorist when the device detonated prematurely, while his accomplice escaped. Around the same time, another bridge near Masoomabad on the Bannu–Miranshah Road was destroyed with explosives, causing structural damage but no loss of life.
Going further back, in September 2025, terrorists planted explosives beneath a bridge in Jani Khel tehsil to target a security convoy, destroying the bridge completely and compounding difficulties for local residents. Locals condemned these repeated attacks, saying that the militants deliberately target infrastructure used by the public, spreading fear, instability, and hardship.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the affected areas after each blast and launched search and investigation operations to identify and apprehend those responsible. Technical teams are assessing damage and planning repair work. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly.
Officials emphasized that these attacks are intended to disrupt daily life, limit mobility, and terrorize the local population. They reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
