A police constable abducted by militants in the Domel tehsil of Bannu has been brutally murdered, in a tragic incident that highlights the continued targeting of law enforcement personnel by extremist elements.
According to police officials, Constable Naveed Akram, who was serving in Sub-Division Wazir Bannu, was a resident of the Amal Khel area of Domel. He was abducted by armed militants from the football ground of his ancestral village, an act that sent shockwaves through the local community.
Police sources further revealed that Constable Naveed Akram had been receiving threats prior to his abduction, warning him to resign from police service. Despite these intimidations, he remained steadfast in his commitment to duty and continued serving the force with dedication and resolve.
Following his kidnapping, local tribal elders and community leaders made earnest efforts to negotiate his safe release. Unfortunately, these negotiations failed, and the militants subsequently killed the abducted police officer, extinguishing a life devoted to public service and the rule of law.
The killing of Constable Naveed Akram is a stark reminder of the dangers faced daily by law enforcement personnel in terrorism-affected regions. It also reflects the ruthless tactics employed by militant groups to instill fear, weaken state institutions, and deter officers from performing their lawful duties.
This heinous act has been widely condemned and underscores the urgent need for decisive measures to dismantle militant networks, ensure accountability, and enhance security for police personnel, particularly those serving in high-risk areas.
