Security forces have killed a senior commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a counterterrorism operation in Lakki Marwat, amid heightened security activity following a series of recent militant attacks in the district.
According to security sources, the slain militant was identified as Mohammad, also known as Muawiya Badri. He was described as a senior TTP commander with alleged links to Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) and was reportedly a resident of Afghanistan’s Paktika province. Sources said he was associated with the group’s suicide bomber recruitment wing.
Lakki Marwat has remained in the spotlight after militants targeted a bus heading to the Lucky Cement factory and carried out another attack elsewhere in the district, including an assault on a peace committee member. Security forces have since intensified intelligence-based operations across the area.
Officials said the terrorist involved in the Lakki Cement bus bombing has already been eliminated. In parallel, security forces launched additional operations in the jurisdiction of Thana Saddar, where militants were surrounded. At the time of the last reports, an exchange of fire was ongoing between security personnel and the attackers.
During the clash, one police official sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a medical facility for treatment. Security around sensitive locations has been tightened, and search operations are continuing to prevent further attacks.
Authorities said counterterrorism operations will continue until all militant threats in the region are fully neutralized, stressing that efforts are focused on restoring peace and protecting civilians and critical infrastructure.
