Three traffic police personnel were martyred after unidentified motorcycle borne terrorists opened fire in the limits of Sarai Naurang police station in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, officials said.
According to police, the attackers targeted traffic police personnel performing routine duties in the area and fled the scene immediately after the attack. Traffic Police Incharge Naurang, Jalal, along with Constable Azizullah and Constable Abdullah, embraced martyrdom on the spot due to critical gunshot injuries.
Soon after the incident, police and security forces rushed to the area, cordoned off the surroundings, and launched a search operation to trace the assailants. Checkpoints were set up on exit routes, while intelligence based combing operations were initiated in nearby localities.
