A set of prominent anti state political social media accounts has launched a misleading and fabricated narrative following the honourable retirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, reveals the sources. According to officials, these elements are again attempting to fuel unrest, discord and chaos under a coordinated political agenda.
The claims recently circulated about the events of 9 May are entirely false, baseless and contrary to established facts. These actors have no understanding of the internal command structure of the Pakistan Army and are deliberately misleading the public.
On 9 May 2023, when PTI crowds attacked state installations, the Pakistan Army’s response was executed strictly through the official chain of command and under the clear and direct instructions of the Chief of Army Staff. The position of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee has no operational role in Army matters or in any other service.
This remained the case on 9 May 2023 as well, when the CJCSC office had no involvement in any institutional or operational instructions. Any allegation or insinuation against the Chairman Joint Chiefs regarding those events is fabricated, factually incorrect and part of a misleading propaganda effort.
Officials say such conspiracy driven narratives are aimed at maligning state institutions and damaging national unity.
