Pakistan’s security forces have taken control of key locations in Bannu’s Narmi Khel area after uncovering and dismantling covert suicide-training facilities secretly established by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The group had turned two abandoned government school buildings into operational hubs for training suicide attackers, including Afghan nationals.
Security officials said the facilities included a girls’ primary school and the nearby Ayub/Musharraf school, both repurposed by militants as training centers. Acting on precise intelligence regarding the movement and activities of the trainees, security forces launched a coordinated operation that neutralised the militants present and shut down the compounds.
Over 25 militants were eliminated during the action, including 13 trained suicide attackers, most of whom were Afghan citizens. Video footage recovered from the sites also shows militants undergoing training inside the school structures, confirming the nature of the facilities.
Officials emphasised that the swift operation demonstrates the enhanced capability of Pakistan’s security forces to detect, penetrate, and dismantle terrorist infrastructure, including facilities used by proscribed groups such as the TTP. They added that the restoration of control over these locations marks a significant step in preventing such foreign-linked terrorist elements from using Pakistani territory as training grounds.
