Pakistan Rejects Afghan Claims, Confirms Ceasefire Violation from Across Border

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has confirmed that a violation of the ceasefire occurred along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. In an official statement issued from the federal capital, the ministry said that certain elements from across the border in Afghanistan opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani border posts in the Chaman sector. The security forces responded promptly and effectively, exercising utmost restraint and professionalism in dealing with the situation.

The officials categorically rejected the claims made by Afghan authorities alleging that Pakistan initiated the firing, stating that the incident was clearly provoked from the Afghan side. They added that Pakistani security forces acted in a responsible manner, swiftly containing the situation and restoring calm along the border.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting further stated that the ceasefire remains intact, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to ongoing dialogue and peaceful engagement. The ministry expressed hope that Afghan authorities would continue to cooperate in maintaining stability and preventing such incidents in the future.

The exchange of fire occurred at a time when the third round of talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban is underway in Istanbul, focusing on counterterrorism cooperation and border security mechanisms.
