Top ISIS Commander Behind High-Profile Killings Eliminated in Bajaur Operation

Security forces killed a top ISIS commander, identified as Ziauddin alias Ibrahim or Idrees, during an intelligence-based operation in the Khosar area of Bajaur. According to credible security sources, the slain militant was one of ISIS’s most wanted target killers, involved in a string of high-profile assassinations, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Rehan Zeb, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Maulana Khan Zeb, the Deputy Commissioner of Nawagai, members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), and several police personnel.

Investigations revealed that Ziauddin was imprisoned at Afghanistan’s Pul-e-Charkhi jail before the Taliban takeover of Kabul. After his release, he entered Pakistan in 2023 and revived ISIS’s network, orchestrating terror and targeted killing operations across Bajaur and adjoining areas.

Security officials described his killing as a major success against ISIS’s regional command structure, saying it dealt a severe blow to the group’s operational capabilities in northwestern Pakistan.
