Terrorist Attack on Baka Khel Police Station Foiled by Bannu Police

A suspected terrorist attack targeting Baka Khel Police Station in Bannu was thwarted late Sunday night, as police forces successfully repelled the assailants before they could approach the premises, officials confirmed.

According to police sources, militants linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), declared by the state as Fitna al-Khawarij, attempted to stage a long-range assault on the station under cover of darkness. However, alert police personnel, using modern surveillance tools including thermal imaging cameras, detected movement near the station perimeter and opened fire in response.

The timely and coordinated action forced the attackers to retreat before they could close in. The police’s quick reaction prevented any casualties or damage to the station.

Locals from nearby residential areas also reportedly joined the security forces in retaliatory fire, standing alongside police during the confrontation.

The attackers fled the scene, taking advantage of the night and surrounding terrain. A search operation has since been launched in the area to trace and apprehend them.

Senior police officials praised the professionalism and bravery of the personnel involved. “The Bannu police showed exemplary courage, alertness, and tactical skill,” said DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan. “Our forces are fully prepared to counter any threat of terrorism. The safety of the public and the restoration of peace in the region will be ensured at all costs.”

No injuries or damage were reported, and the situation in the area remains under control.
