Security forces conducted a successful targeted operation in the Zangoti area of North Waziristan after receiving intelligence that Khawarij were using mosques and civilian homes to store weapons and explosives. Eight Khawarij were killed, 10 injured, while three fighters and four facilitators were taken into custody during the operation.
According to details, residents of Kharsin village voluntarily vacated the area on September 6, following which security forces launched a clearance operation. Intelligence reports revealed that the Khawarij had turned civilian residences and mosques into strongholds, with one Noor’s house being used as a storage site for arms and explosives.
On September 7, security forces cleared several hideouts, killing three Khawarij in an exchange of fire. The following day, troops cleared the remaining portion of the village, killing more militants, arresting one alive, and neutralising four improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The overall operation led to the elimination of eight Khawarij, including key commanders: Asad, deputy commander of the banned Asadullah group; Torabi, an Afghan national and IED/suicide attack expert; Chamtu, formation commander of the Khalid Zahid group; Khalid Farooq; and Maulvi Mansoor of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group. Several fortified hideouts were destroyed, and a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered.
Local residents praised the security forces for the successful operation and reaffirmed their commitment to stand alongside them in defending the motherland against the menace of Khawarij.
