Field Marshal Asim Munir Vows Uncompromising Defence of Pakistan’s Sovereignty

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, in a special message on Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, paid glowing tributes to the forefathers and Muslims of the subcontinent for their sacrifices, reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s full preparedness to counter conventional, non-conventional, and hybrid threats, and pledged that no compromise would be made on the country’s freedom and sovereignty. He reiterated unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine and vowed to dedicate all energies to Pakistan’s stability and progress.

The COAS described Pakistan as not only a strong and impregnable fortress of the Muslim world but also a beacon of interfaith harmony and religious freedom, where minorities continue to play a vital role in national development. Highlighting Pakistan’s immense human and financial sacrifices in defeating terrorism, he referred to the recent tragic incident in Pahalgam, saying the country had strongly condemned it and offered transparent international investigations.

Field Marshal Munir said that in a display of habitual intransigence, the Indian government targeted Pakistan’s civilian population, but with the nation’s backing, the armed forces gave a resolute response through Operation Banyan Marsous, which now stands as a symbol of the Pakistan Army’s valour and spirit.

Underscoring the military’s operational capability, he asserted that any misadventure against Pakistan’s territorial integrity would be met with an immediate and decisive reply. “We seek peace, development, and prosperity in the region, but will never compromise on our independence and sovereignty,” he said.

Reiterating support for the Kashmiri struggle, he termed the right to self-determination as the only just and sustainable solution to the dispute. He also expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and called on the international community to ensure their rights are protected.

Paying homage to all martyrs of the freedom struggle, the COAS said their courage, valour, and faith-driven resolve remain a guiding light for the nation. Expressing complete confidence in the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and combat readiness, he said no sacrifice would be spared in defending the country’s borders.

The COAS concluded by vowing to dedicate all efforts to Pakistan’s stability, security, and prosperity.
