Bannu: IMP Commander Among 2 Terrorists Killed in Joint CTD-Army Operation

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bannu District Police and the Pakistan Army successfully conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in Bannu district, killing two terrorists following an intense exchange of fire, according to an official CTD statement issued on October 13, 2026.

The operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated that terrorists were present in the Karam Garhi Mamand Khel area, within the jurisdiction of Bannu Cantt Police Station, and were planning to carry out a major terrorist activity. Acting on the intelligence, personnel from the CTD Bannu, district police and the Pakistan Army were dispatched to the identified location to apprehend the terrorists and prevent a potential attack.

According to the CTD, the security personnel came under indiscriminate fire as soon as they reached the location. The forces responded in self-defence and engaged the terrorists in an exchange of fire that continued for a considerable period. After the firing stopped, security personnel conducted a search operation in the area and discovered the bodies of two terrorists.

One of those killed was identified as Mohib Khan alias Sameen, son of Sher Abdullah, a resident of Garerah Imam Shah in Bannu district. According to the CTD, he was a local commander of the banned Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP).

The identity of the second terrorist is being established, the department confirmed. The CTD stated that Mohib Khan alias Sameen had 22 cases registered against him with the CTD Bannu. He was also the nephew of Zar Gul alias Uncle, identified by the department as a commander of the banned IMP.

According to the official statement, Sameen was involved in multiple terrorist activities in Bannu district, including targeted killings, explosive attacks against police personnel and security forces, kidnappings, damage to property and the establishment of illegal checkpoints at various locations.

The department said his elimination represented a significant development in ongoing efforts to counter terrorist networks operating in the district.
