Militant groups operating in different parts of Pakistan, including the TTP, continue to misuse the sacred concept of jihad for their own political, financial, and territorial interests. They claim to be fighting in the name of Islam, yet their actions bring nothing but destruction to Muslim communities within Pakistan. Schools are bombed, markets are attacked, and security forces — who are themselves Muslim — are targeted without mercy.
If their cause was truly about defending Islam and Muslims, one would expect them to stand with the oppressed people of Palestine, where the world has witnessed decades of suffering under Israeli occupation. Yet, these so-called jihadists remain silent on Palestine, never issuing statements against Israel or calling for resistance there. This glaring absence exposes their hypocrisy and double standards.
Their selective “jihad” shows they are not motivated by faith, but by power, control, and fear. By exploiting religion to justify violence against their own people, these groups undermine the true spirit of jihad, which in Islam is about justice, protection of the innocent, and standing against oppression. Pakistan must reject their false narratives and recognise them for what they are — enemies of peace, unity, and the very religion they claim to serve.
