In a major joint counter-terror operation, Pakistan Army and local police raided the Havid area of Bannu, arresting several suspects and demolishing the houses of two facilitators linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or the Fitna al-Khawarij.

According to sources, the operation was launched on the basis of solid intelligence, aimed at dismantling militant networks and restoring peace in the area. Security forces cordoned off the locality and carried out a targeted search, detaining multiple individuals for questioning.

During the operation, the homes of two local facilitators were razed to disrupt the Khawarij group’s support structure. Residents of the area welcomed the crackdown, calling it vital for public safety and expressing support for the ongoing efforts of security forces.

It is important to mention that a quad-copter, part of a recurring trend in Bannu, particularly over sensitive locations like Miryan Police Station, was shot down yesterday after it was detected flying over Bannu Police Lines. Today, a drone strike carried out by Khawarij injured two women and a child.

While Bannu has experienced a surge in militancy in recent weeks, security operations, especially the ongoing Nurar offensive, have significantly improved the situation, and the overall security environment across the district is now very much under control.
