In the Nurar area of Bannu’s Miryan police Station jurisdiction, Khawarij have reportedly taken refuge in local mosques and ‘hujras’ (traditional guesthouses), creating a tense and alarming situation for residents.
According to local sources, the movement of Khawarij in the area has increased, prompting swift deployment of heavy police and security force contingents. Authorities believe a major operation may be underway to eliminate the threat.
District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kulachi stated that the dense population and crowd in Nurar Bazaar have posed challenges for security teams. However, he made it clear: “No armed group or Khawarij will be allowed to roam freely. Action is inevitable.”
The DPO further said that preparations are being made to ensure minimum harm to civilians, and the potential risks to residents in case of an operation are being thoroughly assessed.
As the situation develops, residents have been urged to stay vigilant, while law enforcement agencies continue to monitor and seal off areas suspected of harboring Khawarij.
