Major Rift Erupts Between TTP and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar: Internal Accusations of Extortion, Assassinations, and CIA Links

A new wave of infighting has erupted within the ranks of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), as its main faction under Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud has launched scathing accusations against Jamaat-ul-Ahrar — the splinter group once led by the slain commander Omar Khalid Khorasani.

Tensions between the TTP’s central command and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar have surged to alarming levels, with the pro-TTP media outlet Al-Murabit stepping into the fray, publicly branding Omar Khalid Khorasani as a “murderer and extortionist.” Once a founding figure of the TTP and a globally known militant commander, Khorasani has posthumously become the center of a storm of allegations.

According to Al-Murabit, Khorasani not only ordered the killings of fellow militants but also sold senior TTP figure Maulvi Faqir Muhammad to the CIA in exchange for U.S. dollars — a damning charge that further reveals the deep fractures within the militant network.

The article goes on to attack Ehsanullah Ehsan, the former TTP spokesperson and a close aide of Khorasani, accusing him of rekindling chaos within militant circles. Al-Murabit labels him a “deceiver” who had previously surrendered and is now allegedly reactivating anti-TTP elements.

This sharp rhetoric from within TTP-aligned media signals not only a severe ideological rift but also growing mistrust and power struggles among Pakistan’s most dangerous terrorist factions.

Analysts suggest that this internal conflict could weaken operational unity among militant networks, even as security forces continue to face threats from both TTP and its splinter groups across Pakistan’s western borders.
