Lakki Marwat: Security forces eliminated two terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Swatdaag, Bethany Sub-Division, according to sources.

The operation was launched after security personnel received information regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. Acting on the intelligence, security forces moved to the suspected location and conducted a targeted operation aimed at neutralizing the threat.

During the operation, an exchange of fire took place between security forces and the terrorists. In the ensuing engagement, two terrorists were eliminated.

The successful intelligence-based action prevented the terrorists from exploiting the area as a base for further terrorist activity and dealt another blow to the network operating in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Following the engagement, security forces launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation in the surrounding area. The operation is aimed at locating any additional terrorists, facilitators, weapons or explosives that may be present in the vicinity.

Security personnel have also maintained heightened vigilance in the area to prevent any remaining terrorist network members from exploiting the terrain to escape or regroup.

The operation highlights the importance of timely and actionable intelligence in counterterrorism efforts. Identifying terrorist presence before an attack is launched enables security forces to take the initiative and disrupt terrorist networks at their operational stage.

Lakki Marwat, along with neighboring Bannu, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, has remained a key focus of counterterrorism operations in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations across the region to prevent terrorists from establishing hideouts, recruiting locally or expanding their operational footprint.

The latest operation in Swatdaag adds to the sustained pressure being maintained against Fitna al-Khwarij in the region, while the ongoing search operation will determine whether further threats or terrorist infrastructure are present.

Security forces remain engaged in efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent them from using southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a launchpad for attacks against security personnel or civilians.
