Two personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) were martyred on Saturday after unidentified motorcycle-borne terrorists opened fire in the jurisdiction of Cantt Police Station, near Kurram Garhi area of Bannu, official sources confirmed.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when armed assailants targeted security forces personnel in a sudden and coordinated attack. The firing resulted in the martyrdom of two FC personnel on the spot.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a counter-response, with FC units engaging the attackers in intense retaliatory fire. Reinforcements were swiftly mobilized to secure the surrounding locality and prevent any further escalation.
A large-scale search and clearance operation has since been initiated to trace and apprehend those responsible for the attack. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads and conducting area sweeps to eliminate any potential threats linked to the incident.
Police contingents were also dispatched promptly to the scene to assist in securing the area and supporting ongoing security operations. Authorities have confirmed that the situation is under control, while efforts continue to locate the perpetrators.
Officials have reiterated that such cowardly acts of terrorism will not deter the resolve of security forces, who remain fully committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region. They emphasized that operations against terrorist elements will continue without interruption until all responsible networks are dismantled.
