TTP Network Disrupted: CTD Operation in Koh-e-Suleman Leaves Senior Khawarij Commander Dead

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has successfully conducted a high-impact intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the rugged mountainous region of Koh-e-Suleman, resulting in the elimination of two Khawarij, including a key commander affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to official sources.

The operation was launched following credible and verified intelligence reports indicating the movement of a heavily armed group of 12 to 15 Khawarij associated with the banned TTP from South Punjab into the tribal belt of Taman Qaisrani through the tri-border region connecting Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Intelligence assessments suggested that the group was planning acts of violence and subversion targeting populated areas of Koh-e-Suleman, Wahuwa, and Taunsa.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, specialized CTD units equipped with advanced weaponry, surveillance systems, and drone technology were deployed to the area. Security personnel established covert surveillance positions and maintained continuous monitoring throughout the night in the difficult terrain surrounding Kachi Goru-Lakhni near Jandoga.

According to the CTD spokesperson, aerial surveillance conducted during daylight hours through drones and other advanced monitoring assets confirmed the presence of suspected Khawarij in mountainous hideouts. Upon identification, CTD teams moved to intercept the group, leading to an intense exchange of fire between security forces and the Khawarij.

During the ensuing gun battle, two Khawarij were killed on the spot, including a senior TTP commander believed to have been involved in coordinating extremist activities in the region. Two additional Khawarij sustained injuries during the encounter. The identities of the deceased individuals are currently being verified through ongoing forensic and intelligence procedures.

Following the casualties, the remaining Khawarij exploited the challenging mountainous terrain and natural cover to retreat from the area, carrying their wounded accomplices. No casualties among CTD personnel were reported during the operation.

Security officials stated that the successful operation disrupted a potential threat and demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-led counter-extremism measures being undertaken to safeguard local communities. The operation reflects the CTD’s continued commitment to identifying, tracking, and neutralizing violent extremist elements before they can carry out attacks against civilians or state institutions.

A comprehensive search and sweep operation remains underway across the surrounding mountainous region to locate and apprehend the fleeing Khawarij. Additional intelligence-based measures have been initiated to prevent any regrouping or future hostile activity in the area.

The CTD reaffirmed its resolve to continue coordinated counterterrorism efforts in partnership with law enforcement and security agencies across the country. Authorities emphasized that all available resources, including advanced surveillance technologies and intelligence networks, are being utilized to maintain sustained pressure on extremist organizations and ensure the safety and security of the public.

“Operations against Khawarij networks will continue with full determination. The state remains committed to eliminating extremist elements and protecting citizens from the threat of violence and terrorism,” the CTD spokesperson stated.
