Terrorist Factions Clash in Bannu, Local Commander Killed Over Power Struggle

Bannu, Terrorist Groups, Rift Within Terrorist Organization, Terrorist Commander Killed Over Power Struggle, Pakistan's Counterterrorism Campaign

Differences over control and authority within terrorist groups in Bannu have reportedly turned into a violent confrontation, resulting in the killing of a local terrorist commander, police officials said.

According to police, a dispute between two factions of the banned organization, identified as the Qadir and Abrar groups, escalated when armed terrorists opened fire on local commander Milyar Khan, killing him.

Police sources said Milyar Khan was considered a close associate of Commander Qadir and was an active member of the terrorist network operating in the area.

Officials said the incident reflected growing internal divisions among terrorist groups, where rival commanders continue to fight over influence, resources and control of operational areas.

The killing reportedly took place amid tensions between the two factions over authority and power within the organization.

Security officials have previously maintained that divisions among terrorist groups often emerge due to disputes over leadership, financial matters, territorial influence and the distribution of resources.

Sources said law enforcement agencies were investigating the incident and gathering further details about the circumstances surrounding the killing and the involvement of rival terrorist elements.

The development comes as security forces continue intelligence-based operations against terrorist networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, targeting commanders, facilitators and hideouts linked to banned organizations.

Officials said such internal clashes among terrorist factions expose the fractures within these groups, which attempt to create instability through violence but remain divided over their own interests and leadership struggles.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
