Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Karachi, leading to the arrest of a key facilitator allegedly involved in supplying advanced electronic equipment and drone-related components for terrorist activities.

According to security sources, the arrested individual was part of a supply network linked to a terrorist organisation and was responsible for procuring and delivering a range of electronic items used in the preparation of improvised explosive devices and drone-based attacks.

Sources said the network was allegedly operating under instructions from an Afghanistan-based terrorist handler identified as Talal alias Zaid Baloch, who is said to be an active member of a banned terrorist outfit.

The arrested suspect was reportedly tasked with acquiring drone motors, frames, propellers, batteries, and microcontroller boards used in the assembly of explosive devices. He was also involved in sourcing additional electronic components such as wiring materials, heat-shrink tubes, clips, and other accessories required for improvised explosive device construction.

Security officials said the supply chain also included the procurement of commercially available drones and mobile phones, including models such as DJI Mini series drones and various high-end smartphones, which were allegedly intended for operational use by terrorist elements.

According to investigators, the accused sourced such materials from different commercial markets in Karachi, including Saddar, Bolton Market, and Ranchore Line, as well as online platforms operating within Pakistan.

Officials said initial findings suggest that the procured materials were intended for use in improvised explosive devices, suicide attacks, and drone-based operations targeting security forces and civilian areas.

During the operation, security personnel reportedly recovered approximately two kilograms of explosive material, a drone equipped with a battery, and a remote control device.

Authorities said the arrest has provided significant insight into the logistical and procurement networks used to support terrorist operations, particularly the use of urban commercial markets and online platforms for sourcing dual-use technologies.

Security officials added that further investigations are underway to identify additional facilitators, financial channels, and network contacts linked to the arrested suspect.

They said the intelligence-based operation reflects ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist support structures operating within urban centers and to prevent the misuse of commercially available technology for violent purposes.

Officials also urged citizens to report any suspicious purchases or unusual electronic procurement activity to law enforcement agencies to help disrupt emerging supply networks linked to terrorism.
