Security forces intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan on Tuesday, reportedly eliminating and injuring several terrorists during an operation in the Mangochar area of Kalat, while separate operations also resulted in the elimination of an alleged intelligence facilitator linked to banned terrorist outfits. Meanwhile, terrorists struck back by targeting civilians in Quetta, leaving one person martyred and four others, including a child, injured.
According to preliminary reports, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in the mountainous areas of Mangochar, Kalat, after receiving credible information regarding the presence of terrorists. A fierce exchange of fire followed, during which several terrorists were reportedly eliminated while others sustained injuries. Clearance operations remained underway in the area at the time of reporting to ensure that no terrorist elements escaped.
In another development, security sources said an individual identified as Rahim, described as a facilitator and intelligence operative associated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), was eliminated during an ongoing operation elsewhere in the province. Officials said security forces continue to target not only armed terrorists but also the logistical, intelligence and facilitation networks that enable terrorist groups to plan and execute attacks.
As security forces maintained pressure on terrorist networks, terrorists targeted civilians in Quetta’s Patel Road area. Initial reports said one civilian embraced martyrdom while four others, including a child, sustained injuries in the attack. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while police and other law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those responsible.
Security analysts believe the attack on civilians reflects an increasingly familiar pattern in Balochistan, where terrorist groups, after suffering setbacks in intelligence-based operations, attempt to spread fear by attacking soft targets and disrupting public confidence. They note that such attacks often coincide with intensified counterterrorism operations aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure and disrupting planned acts of violence.
Counterterrorism operations have continued across Balochistan in recent weeks, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists, the destruction of hideouts, and the disruption of several planned attacks. Security officials have reiterated that operations against terrorist organizations, their facilitators and support networks will continue until lasting peace and stability are restored across the province.
