Malik Zai Ali Rehman, alias Kankai, a suspected terrorist, was eliminated during an exchange of fire in the Ahmadzai area of Bannu, according to sources.
Sources said Rehman was neutralized during the incident in Ahmadzai a day earlier. He was identified as the father of Akramah, another suspected terrorist who was previously neutralized.
Sources further said there was no evidence establishing Malik Zai Ali Rehman’s affiliation with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
The development also clarifies earlier reports that had identified Rehman as a local JUI-F leader who was allegedly targeted by terrorists. Those reports were inaccurate, according to the latest information.
The killing comes amid continued counterterrorism activity in Bannu and surrounding areas, where security forces and law-enforcement agencies have been confronting terrorist networks operating in the region.
