Unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers allegedly hurled a hand grenade at a civilian’s house in Dera Ismail Khan late at night and fled, with no casualties reported in the incident, according to local sources.
The attack took place in the Pir Market area along Bypass Road, where the suspects reportedly targeted the residence of Muhammad Gul Malakshai before escaping on their motorcycle.
Fortunately, no loss of life was reported. However, details about the extent of any property damage, the precise circumstances of the attack and whether the grenade exploded inside or outside the house were not immediately available.
The motive behind the attack also remains unclear. No terrorist group had claimed responsibility at the time of reporting, and the identities of the attackers had yet to be established.
The targeting of a civilian residence raises concerns about public safety in the area. Investigators would need to determine whether the attack stemmed from a personal dispute, intimidation or a broader security-related motive before drawing conclusions about those responsible.
Further details regarding any police response, the collection of forensic evidence and possible arrests were not immediately available.
The incident adds to security concerns in Dera Ismail Khan, a district in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that has faced persistent security challenges. However, there is currently no confirmed evidence linking this particular attack to any specific terrorist organisation.
