A suicide attack targeted a security forces vehicle in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, resulting in the martyrdom of three personnel, including a captain, while three civilians were also injured, according to initial reports from security and local sources.
Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle was struck during movement in the area when the attacker detonated explosives nearby. Some media outlets have described the incident as a suicide bombing, though official confirmation regarding the exact nature of the attack is still awaited.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area following the blast, and a search and clearance operation was launched to determine whether any facilitators or additional threats were present nearby. Rescue teams shifted the injured, including civilians, to a nearby medical facility.
The condition of the injured is reported to be stable, though hospital sources say they remain under observation.
Authorities have not yet issued a formal statement identifying the group responsible for the attack. Investigations are underway to determine the network behind the incident and to assess whether it is linked to recent patterns of militant activity in the region.
The area remains under heightened security as forces continue evidence collection and clearance operations.
