Pakistan and Russia have concluded their ninth joint military exercise, Friendship, with a closing ceremony held in Cherat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following joint counterterrorism drills focused on operations in difficult terrain.
The exercise brought together personnel from Pakistan’s Special Operations Forces and Russia’s 201st Military Base, part of the Central Military District and stationed in Tajikistan.
During the drills, troops practiced conducting joint counterterrorism operations in challenging terrain, employing modern weapons, advanced technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The exercise provided an opportunity for both sides to practice coordinated operations and exchange experience in counterterrorism tactics, particularly the use of modern equipment and drone technology in difficult operational environments.
The conclusion of the ninth edition of Friendship reflects continued military engagement between Pakistan and Russia, with joint exercises serving as a platform to strengthen operational coordination and cooperation in counterterrorism.
