Pakistan has begun final diplomatic preparations for a reported memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Iran and the United States in Switzerland, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior officials expected to travel to Geneva on Thursday evening, diplomatic sources said.
According to the sources, Foreign Office officials have already arrived in Switzerland to oversee arrangements for the event. Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch has also reached Geneva along with senior ministry officials.
Additional Foreign Office officials are expected to depart for Switzerland later tonight to finalize diplomatic coordination and logistical preparations related to the ceremony.
Sources said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to be accompanied by Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Information Minister Atta Tarar.
Representatives from several regional countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye, are also expected to attend the event, according to diplomatic sources.
The reported signing ceremony is being viewed as a significant diplomatic development with potential implications for regional stability and efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.
Pakistan is said to be playing a diplomatic role in the process, although officials have not publicly disclosed details of its involvement.
The Iran–US MoU signing ceremony is expected to take place in Switzerland and is being closely watched as a potentially important development in regional diplomacy.
