Security sources and local reports indicated that rival banned terrorist outfits were involved in separate armed clashes in different parts of Upper Orakzai district, with multiple terrorists eliminated and several others injured.
According to the reports, the first confrontation took place in the mountainous areas of Mamo Cheena, Koh Kala and Yakh Kando, where factions of Fitna al-Khwarij, including the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, allegedly exchanged heavy gunfire. Initial information suggested that the fighting resulted in the elimination of several terrorists, while a number of others sustained injuries. However, the exact number of casualties could not be independently verified.
Reports further suggested that another armed clash occurred in the Kohi Kallay Torkanday area, where militants belonging to the banned TTP and the so-called Islamic State (ISKP) allegedly engaged in a separate confrontation. Several terrorists were reportedly eliminated or wounded during the exchange of fire.
While the reasons behind the reported clashes remain unclear, security analysts have previously linked such infighting among terrorist factions to disputes over territorial control, recruitment, financial resources, weapons caches, and ideological differences. Similar confrontations have been reported in remote tribal areas in the past, reflecting persistent rivalries among extremist groups operating along the rugged border belt.
No civilian casualties were reported in connection with the alleged incidents, and there was no immediate official confirmation regarding the reported terrorist losses.
