A jirga was held in Spinwam tehsil of North Waziristan, bringing together local elders and relevant authorities to review the overall security situation, law and order and issues faced by the local population.
During the jirga, local elders highlighted various difficulties confronting residents and raised matters related to their daily routines and access to essential services. They also requested relaxation in the curfew hours imposed during the week to facilitate residents in carrying out necessary activities and meeting their routine needs.
Security and the role of the local population in maintaining peace were also discussed at length. Participants were urged to ensure that suspected individuals or terrorists are not provided any form of assistance, shelter, facilitation or other support.
The local community was also encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. Such cooperation, participants noted, is essential to prevent terrorists and other suspected elements from exploiting local communities or using the area for hostile activities.
Local elders expressed their commitment to continued cooperation with the security forces and authorities. They emphasized that sustained peace, stability and the restoration of normal life in the area require close coordination between the local population and security institutions.
The participants agreed that local elders and residents would continue playing their role in maintaining law and order while extending cooperation to the relevant institutions to improve the security environment.
The jirga concluded with a special prayer for peace, prosperity, stability and the safety of the people of the area.
