A resident of Mohmand district has criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over what he described as its failure to address deteriorating law and order and provide essential public services, saying the province is facing mounting security and governance challenges.
In a statement, Maqsood Ali Utmankhel of Mohmand district said the provincial government appears to be underperforming on multiple fronts. He claimed that while terror incidents continue to rise across the province, the government itself remains preoccupied with protests and political demonstrations.
He questioned why a government that is already in power continues to stage protests instead of focusing on resolving public issues. He also remarked that regardless of whether the legal matters involving PTI founder Imran Khan fall under the jurisdiction of the provincial or federal government, the provincial administration cannot use them as justification for failing to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities.
Commenting on public infrastructure, Utmankhel said the province’s overall condition has become increasingly worrying. He alleged that roads in many areas are in poor condition, the healthcare system is struggling, and educational institutions continue to suffer from a shortage of basic facilities.
He specifically highlighted the road linking Bajaur and Ambar, saying its deteriorated condition has become a daily source of hardship for commuters and has made it more difficult for patients to access healthcare facilities in emergencies.
Expressing concern over the security situation, he said residents in several areas remain worried about their safety and claimed that many people avoid leaving their homes after dark because of security fears. He further alleged that both citizens and livestock have increasingly become vulnerable amid the deteriorating law and order situation.
Concluding his remarks, Utmankhel said the provincial government has failed to adequately address public concerns relating to security, infrastructure and the provision of basic services, urging the authorities to prioritize governance and practical measures aimed at improving the lives of the people.
