Security forces have completed their operation against terrorists who entered Kohat Police Lines following a suicide attack on a mosque, neutralizing all the attackers and clearing the police facility, security officials said.
The clearance operation was launched after terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij entered the Special Branch building following the suicide attack on the mosque inside the Police Lines. Security forces and police personnel subsequently moved to contain and eliminate the attackers.
The operation continued for several hours as security personnel systematically cleared the area and engaged the terrorists. All the terrorists who had entered the Police Lines were eventually eliminated, bringing the operation to an end.
Following the successful completion of the operation, Pakistan Army and police personnel raised Takbeer slogans at the site, marking the conclusion of the clearance operation and the securing of the Police Lines.
The operation also saw senior CTD leadership directly present on the frontline. The Additional Inspector General CTD had been supervising the operation alongside the personnel since it began and was himself wounded in the hand in a grenade attack by the terrorists during the clearance operation.
Despite the injury, the Additional IG CTD received first aid and returned to the frontline to continue overseeing the operation and supporting the personnel engaged in the action.
The successful clearance came after the attackers first targeted the mosque inside Kohat Police Lines in a suicide assault before entering the Special Branch building, turning the security facility into the focus of a prolonged counterterrorism operation.
Security personnel maintained the operation until all the terrorists were eliminated and the area was cleared. The courage and determination of the Army and police personnel, officials said, prevented the attackers from achieving their objectives and brought the attack to an end.
With the Police Lines now cleared, security personnel are conducting the necessary post-operation procedures, including securing the site and assessing the damage caused by the attack and subsequent fighting.
