Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering commitment to promoting peace, stability and security in the region as Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi concluded their one-day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The high-level visit formed part of Pakistan’s continued diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation of tensions in the region, encourage dialogue among the parties concerned, and contribute constructively towards the peaceful resolution of ongoing differences.
During the visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a series of important meetings with the senior Iranian leadership, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, the Leader’s Representative in the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, and the Iranian Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Interior.
Upon arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was received by Iranian Minister of Interior Eskandar Momeni and other senior civil and military officials. The visit provided an important opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on the evolving regional situation and explore practical avenues for reducing tensions and strengthening regional stability.
The discussions focused extensively on the urgent need to prevent any further escalation, facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and support measures aimed at bringing the ongoing conflict to an early and peaceful conclusion. The two sides also held comprehensive discussions on regional peace and security, with particular emphasis on dialogue, diplomacy and negotiated mechanisms for resolving disputes.
Pakistan underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and constructive dialogue as the most effective means of addressing regional challenges and preventing further deterioration of the security environment. The Pakistani side reaffirmed its readiness to play a responsible and constructive role in facilitating communication and supporting efforts directed towards de-escalation and a peaceful resolution.
The discussions also reflected a shared understanding of the broader implications of continued regional tensions for peace, stability, economic activity and international security. In this context, the importance of keeping channels of communication open and pursuing diplomatic solutions was emphasized.
The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and sincere efforts aimed at facilitating dialogue, reducing tensions and contributing to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
