Former Afghan Member of Parliament Baktash Siawash has predicted the eventual collapse of the Taliban regime, stating that international opposition and resistance against the current Afghan rulers are gaining momentum.
In an exclusive interview with Afghan broadcaster Afghanistan International, Siawash strongly criticized the Taliban leadership, alleging that the group has no connection with the true principles of Islam and is instead damaging the image of the religion through its policies and actions.
Siawash stated that the Taliban’s objective is to portray Islam as a restrictive ideology opposed to women’s rights, modern education, arts, and humanitarian values. He claimed that the current Taliban rule is being maintained for a specific period of time to allow certain hidden actors to achieve their broader objectives.
According to Siawash, once these alleged objectives against the image and perception of Islam are achieved, the Taliban regime will ultimately cease to exist permanently.
He further argued that the Taliban’s governance model and policies have led to increasing rejection among Afghans and have contributed to growing resistance both inside and outside Afghanistan.
The former lawmaker’s remarks come amid broader international criticism of the Taliban’s restrictions on social, educational, and civic freedoms in Afghanistan. Analysts and observers cited in the discussion argue that the Taliban’s policies have increasingly exposed what they describe as the restrictive nature of the current administration, creating deeper dissatisfaction among sections of Afghan society.
