An armed attack was carried out by unidentified assailants on Thana Shadikhel and a nearby security forces camp in the Bettani Sub-Division of Lakki Marwat. The incident triggered a heavy exchange of fire between the attackers and law enforcement and security personnel, lasting for approximately two hours.
According to police officials, the attackers used heavy weaponry during the assault, resulting in an intense and prolonged firefight in the area. Security forces and police personnel responded immediately and engaged the assailants in a sustained operation to repel the attack and secure the locality.
During the exchange of fire, Police Constable Irfanullah and Security Forces personnel Waseem embraced martyrdom in the line of duty. Officials confirmed that the personnel displayed bravery while confronting the attackers during the prolonged engagement.
Preliminary information also indicates that nearby civilian areas may have been affected due to the intensity of the firing. Authorities are currently assessing any possible collateral impact and collecting evidence from the site as part of the ongoing investigation.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police under the supervision of the District Police Officer has launched a large-scale search and clearance operation in the surrounding areas. Security forces are conducting systematic sweeps to trace the assailants and eliminate any remaining threats.
