An armed attack by Khawarij targeting Gomal Police Station in Tank District was successfully repulsed following a strong and timely response by police personnel and security forces deployed at the facility.
According to police sources, the Khawarij launched an armed assault on the police station using sniper rifles and other heavy weapons, apparently seeking to target the security personnel stationed there. At the time of the attack, personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), 221 Wing, were also present at the police station alongside police personnel.
As the attack commenced, the police and FC personnel immediately responded and engaged the attackers with effective retaliatory fire. Demonstrating exceptional courage, vigilance and operational readiness, the security personnel firmly resisted the assault and prevented the Khawarij from making any significant advance toward the police station.
The sustained and decisive response by the security forces forced the Khawarij to retreat and flee the area. Following the effective counter-action, the exchange of fire ceased, and the situation in and around the police station was brought under control.
The swift and coordinated response by the police and Frontier Corps personnel highlights the high level of preparedness, professionalism and vigilance maintained by security forces deployed in the region. Their prompt action successfully thwarted the attack and ensured the security of the police station and personnel present there.
