The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced its full backing for intelligence-based counterterrorism operations across the province, declaring zero tolerance for terrorists and their facilitators while vowing that no leniency will be shown to those involved in violence.
During visits to Bannu and Karak, a provincial government representative said the government had taken responsibility for supporting intelligence-led operations against terrorist networks and would stand alongside all state institutions engaged in eliminating security threats.
He said ongoing intelligence-based operations, particularly in the southern districts of the province, have the government’s complete support, adding that such targeted actions are essential for dismantling terrorist infrastructure while ensuring minimum disruption to civilian life.
The representative said the government’s priority is to restore lasting peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the current year has been declared a year of peace and development.
He emphasized that sustainable progress, investment and development cannot be achieved without a secure environment, and efforts for peace and development would continue simultaneously.
Reiterating the government’s position against terrorism, he said the soil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be made inhospitable for terrorists and their facilitators. He added that all state institutions and the nation were united in confronting terrorist violence.
He further stated that police and civil administration in southern districts had been given complete authority and necessary space to conduct intelligence-driven operations effectively, enabling them to respond swiftly to emerging threats and maintain law and order.
Referring specifically to ongoing operations in Bannu, the representative clarified that the current campaign was different from previous large-scale operations, as it was based on actionable intelligence and focused only on terrorist elements.
He stressed that no population displacement or mass evacuation was taking place during the ongoing operations, highlighting the precision-based nature of the campaign against terrorist networks.
The statement comes amid continued coordinated efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies in parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, disrupt movement of terrorist elements and strengthen the state’s writ.
Authorities have maintained that intelligence-based operations will continue until terrorist networks and their facilitators are completely neutralized and lasting peace is restored across the province.
