The Afghanistan Liberation Front (FLF) has released images of the bodies of 10 Taliban fighters it says were killed in recent clashes in Kamdesh district of Nuristan province, as fighting between the two sides continues in the area.
The images show the bodies of Taliban fighters wearing military uniforms and carrying equipment, with visible signs of injuries sustained during the clashes. Some of the fighters can be seen with weapons and military gear, while the faces of several are identifiable. Others are difficult to identify.
Clashes between the Afghanistan Liberation Front and Taliban forces resumed on Tuesday morning, September 29, in Kamdesh district. Local sources said the fighting began after a Taliban attack and continued as the two sides exchanged fire.
Both sides have claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on their opponents during the ongoing confrontations. However, the competing casualty claims have not been independently verified.
The latest images released by the Afghanistan Liberation Front are presented as evidence of the casualties it says Taliban forces suffered in the fighting.
In an earlier statement on Saturday, the group claimed to have captured parts of Kamdesh in Nuristan and Nari district in neighboring Kunar province. It said its fighters had killed 37 Taliban personnel and wounded another 24.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense, meanwhile, claimed that its forces had killed 28 opposition fighters and arrested 32 people in Kamdesh.
The conflicting claims underscore the continuing confrontation between the Taliban and armed opposition groups in parts of Afghanistan, where both sides have reported significant losses during recent clashes.
