Pakistan, India Agree on DGMO-Level Contact Amid Ceasefire Efforts

Pakistan and India have agreed to establish contact between their Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs), with a telephonic conversation scheduled for May 12 at 11:30 a.m., according to official sources.

The development comes as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced that both countries have reached an understanding on an immediate ceasefire.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan has always made consistent efforts for peace and stability in the region. “Pakistan has never compromised on its sovereignty and territorial integrity in its pursuit of peace,” he stated.

He added that a detailed statement will soon be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that with the prayers of the nation, Pakistan not only defended itself resolutely but also delivered the appropriate response where necessary.

Dar further revealed that multiple countries had been engaged over the past 24 hours to help broker a ceasefire. “Our position remained clear throughout—we were ready for a ceasefire. Had India taken the first step, we were prepared to respond accordingly,” he said.

The upcoming DGMO-level contact marks a significant move amid escalating tensions, and signals an opportunity for de-escalation and diplomatic engagement.
