Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to take the National Assembly into confidence following India’s military aggression and Pakistan’s forceful and immediate retaliation, as he prepares to address Parliament in what is being termed a critical moment in the nation’s security narrative.
The decision came after an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by the Prime Minister, concluded on Tuesday. The two-hour session brought together top military leadership, federal ministers, and senior officials to assess the evolving security landscape in the wake of escalating cross-border hostilities.
According to sources, the Prime Minister will deliver a comprehensive statement in the National Assembly, outlining the nature of Indian provocations, the strategic rationale behind Pakistan’s response, and the government’s broader approach to regional peace and deterrence. “In matters of sovereignty, our resolve is absolute,” a senior official quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
Briefing the NSC, military officials confirmed that Pakistan had delivered a calibrated and powerful military response to the Indian attacks, targeting critical Indian military infrastructure. Five Indian aircraft were reportedly downed and a key brigade headquarters was destroyed in what officials described as a “precise and proportionate response.”
The committee unanimously praised the professionalism and readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declaring, “The entire nation stands resolutely behind its valiant armed forces. We will not yield an inch of our sovereignty, our dignity, or our territorial integrity.”
Sources said the meeting also reviewed Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and the next phase of its international engagement to expose Indian aggression and prevent further escalation. Consultations were held on coordinating with key global allies and mobilizing international opinion in Pakistan’s favour.
The Prime Minister’s upcoming address to Parliament is expected to set the tone for the country’s unified stance, amid rising tensions in the region.
